Liposuction in Los Angeles, CA

Do you have areas of stubborn excess fat on the body? Do you wish to improve the overall contours and silhouette of the body? Liposuction is a safe, effective way to remove excess fat from almost anywhere on the body that is a problem area for you. Michael Schwartz, M.D., is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon and diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery  that offers liposuction to women and men who live in and around Los Angeles, Pasadena and the surrounding communities of California.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure intended to help otherwise healthy patients remove the excess pockets of fat around their body’s problem areas that they have not been able to eliminate through diet and exercise alone. Dr. Schwartz has been performing liposuction of the face, neck, and body using the “tumescent technique” since 1997. He offers tumescent liposuction at his Pasadena practice for patients across Los Angeles. He also offers liposuction with fat transfer (fat injections) for patients looking to return fullness to the face and other areas of the body.

Some of the areas treated by liposuction include:

  • Abdomen or tummy
  • Buttocks
  • Thighs
  • Hips
  • Flanks
  • Back
  • Arms
  • Neck
  • Chin

While these are some of the most common areas targeted by liposuction, there are many more areas of the body in which liposuction is an effective treatment to get rid of excess fat.

The Lipo Procedure

Liposuction is performed using small “stealth” incisions strategically placed so as to be unnoticeable and for optimal fat removal. The treatment area is infiltrated with a dilute solution of lidocaine for numbing and epinephrine to constrict blood vessels and prevent bleeding. A small tube called a cannula is inserted through the incision, underneath the skin, to gently suction out excess fat from the area. Dr. Schwartz will carefully guide the cannula to ensure effective and total fat removal from the targeted problem area. Once the fat is removed, the incisions are closed, and the healing process begins. The results will last for as long as you maintain your current weight and fitness routine.

Back Liposuction

Back fat is notoriously difficult to treat with exercise. The back is one of the areas many people don’t think about when considering weight loss, but that stores excess fat in both women and men. If you have excess back fat, whether it be in the lower “love handle” area or “bra bulge” area up higher, liposuction can effectively remove it from the area. Once liposuction effectively removes the fat from your back, it is unlikely you will experience excess fat there again in the future.

Flanks Liposuction

The flanks, commonly called the love handles, are one of the most troublesome areas when it comes to excess fat storage. Typically, trainers and fitness guides can help you target this area using a variety of abdominal exercises. However, it is not uncommon for someone to have toned, visible abs and still have excess fat in the love handles. If you have stubborn fat in this area that you can pinch, or that hangs over your waistline, liposuction may be the only effective solution for you.

Recovery Following Liposuction

Recovery following liposuction involves soreness similar to a heavy workout.  There is some drainage of fluid from the small incisions for the first 48 hours. However, patients are up and walking immediately. We suggest taking a few days to a week off from work depending on the areas treated. Patients wear compression garments that are easily concealed under clothing for 4-6 weeks following tumescent liposuction. We will discuss your recovery plan and process at your consultation and prepare you for a healthy, fast healing time. Most people resume normal exercise routines within a month.

Am I A Good Candidate for Liposuction?

Liposuction is most successful for individuals who have stubborn pockets of fat or areas of localized fat on the body. Liposuction is not a substitute for overall fat loss or significant weight change. Strong candidates for liposuction will be at a generally healthy, stable weight and in good health overall. If you think you may be a strong candidate for liposuction and have one or more problem areas, schedule a consultation today. Dr. Schwartz can meet with you to determine a personalized treatment plan which will most effectively target problem areas and get you the long-term results you desire.

How Much Does Liposuction Cost in Pasadena, CA?

Fees for liposuction vary depending on the technique used and the scope of work. Dr. Schwartz can discuss the options with you at your consultation. Because liposuction is typically done for cosmetic reasons, it is unlikely to be covered by insurance. However, the office of Dr. Michael Schwartz believes in affordability and therefore offers financing through Alphaeon Credit, Prosper® Healthcare Lending, and CareCredit®  for liposuction procedures. Our office accepts cash, personal checks and credit cards for payment.

Do you have areas of unwanted fat? Do you wish to re-contour your body? Liposuction can help you shed the fat that is resistant to diet and exercise.
